So, now that we had been in the house almost three years, we have decided to make some improvements. The first project I have decided to undertake is the kitchen. The kitchen has a linoleum floor and wallpaper and border above a chair rail and wallpaper below the chair rail. I removed the wallpaper and border only to find a second layer of the same thing. DEPRESSING!I've removed about 3/4 of the second layer and have been putting off the rest but I plan to get back in there soon. In removing the second layer, I found out the hard way that the walls weren't prepared and therefore some of the wall has come with the wall paper in spots. I also found a segment of water damaged sheetrock behind the fridge that has to be replaced. So there will be lots of patching and sanding before the painting can begin. I hope to be able to put down tile and replace the countertops and sink. I'll keep you updated on the progresss...
